Rasulullah S.A.W declared:
"Indeed the person I love most amongst all of my followers is the one with the best morals/characters". (Shahih Bukhari)
Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
Alhamdulillah let us continue our program, while later on the explanation on syarah hadits will be continued by him as he has indeed memorized Shahih Bukhari and its syarah as well as more than 30.000 hadits. Ladies and gentlemen,
We kindly request our Guru fadhilatul ustadz ad da’i illaAllah Sayyidil Habib Musa Al Kadhim bin Ja’far Assegaf to give Tausiyah speech for a few minutes which will be translated by our Guru fadhilatul ustadz ad da’i ilallah Syekh Ridwan Al Amri. Be my guest Please, tafadhol masykura…
All praise goes to Allah S.W.T who has gathered us in this place, we convey our shalawat and salam towards hadiratul Rasulullah S.A.W. Al Habib Musa bin Ja’far Assegaf, our guest from Tarim city of Hadramaut. He opened his speech by reciting hamdalah and shalawat towards Rasulullah S.A.W. Then he said that we all together have just learnt the statement of Rasulullah S.A.W in which the hadits was the words of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W that will give blessings to those who listen to the hadits of Rasulullah S.W.T.
We have just learnt about the statement of Rasulullah S.A.W that “inna min ahabbikum ilayya ahsanakum akhlaq” indeed the person I love most from my followers are the one with the best characters, the one I love most, said Rasulullah S.A.W. Although there are many examples, such as those who like reciting Alqur’an are loved by Allah S.W.T, also those who like performing dzikir are loved by Allah S.W.T. But this particular hadits emphasizes that the person loved most by Rasulullah S.A.W from all of you is the one with the best morals/characters.
Alhamdulillah, because of taufiq from Allah S.W.T, Allah has given us easiness to perform good deeds so that we could become the ones being loved most by Rasulullah S.A.W, therefore be well informed that if we want to be those who are loved most by Allah S.W.T, this is the fastest way, that is by how we could beautify and progress our morals just like Rasulllah S.A.W.
All of us are able to encourage others to do the same, how they could follow and learn the best characters/morals of Rasulullah S.A.W. Allah S.W.T has created a mankind in their best shape and look. “Laqad khalaqnal insaana fii ahsani taqwiim” indeed We have created mankind in their best form. QS. At-Tiin : 4. Hence mankind is created by Allah S.W.T with the best creation compared to other creatures created by Allah, therefore we are taught by The Greatest Rasulullah S.A.W, when a Moslem sees himself in front of a mirror, he sees the shape and look given by Allah S.W.T to him, though it is the shape and look that can be seen, not to forget, as declared by Rasulullah S.A.W, the good characters and morals. Therefore Prophet Muhammad S.A.W taught us one prayer when we see ourselves in front of mirror, “Allahumma kamaahassanta khalqiy fahassin khuluqiy” (prayer when seeing ourselves in a mirror) O’ Allah as You have completed my shape and look, You beautify my shape and look, You also mend my soul with the best behavior. Note this! The shape and look from outside, if our look is less attractive or even ugly, eventually we will die, and once we are buried in a grave, the ugly look will be gone. While the look of our soul, the good characters which are invisible, unless by certain people who are allowed by Allah S.W.T, will be carried until this person meet up with Allah S.W.T on the Judgment Day. The way we take care of ourselves, our look and shape, we are also taught by The Greatest Rasulullah S.A.W to improve our morals and characters, with the intention that Allah S.W.T will not only see our physical appearance or outer look but also our inner look.
As mentioned just now, Alhabib Musa said if someone wants to have good morals as taught by Rasulullah S.A.W, he should never stop trying and don’t forget to pray towards Allah S.W.T. As Prophet Muhammad S.A.W also pray in his prayers. He .S.A.W prayed towards Allah S.W.T with the intention that Allah will give guidance and patience to him S.A.W. There had been many trials and torments he S.A.W had suffered, one of it was when Prophet S.A.W had been disturbed he S.A.W was patient to face those disturbances from quraisy people. But all those trouble and annoyance suffered by Rasulullah S.A.W, all were boldly faced by Prophet Muhammad S.A.W, those atheist people behaved in front of Rasul S.A.W with bad attitudes. Their bad manners towards Prophet S.A.W were ignored, and with the good morals of Rasulullah S.A.W, he didn’t take revenge, instead Rasulullah S.A.W replied their bad behaviour with good conducts. This is the morals being taught by Rasulullah S.A.W.
Hence Allah S.W.T praised Prophet Muhammad S.A.W within Alqur’anulkarim. Being praised not only for his patience, not for his worship, although Prophet Muhammad S.A.W performed countless worship towards Allah S.W.T, until it was said that from so many worship and religious conducts the Prophet S.A.W had performed, from his qiyamullail (night prayers) until swollen both of his feet. But all those performance by Prophet Muhammad S.A.W, all worships, religious acts by Prophet Muhammad S.A.W, the ones being praised by Allah S.W.T in Alqur’an “wa innaka la a’la khuluqin adzim” indeed you are, O’ Rasulullah within the noblest morals. QS. Al Qalam : 4. Indeed Rasul S.A.W is within the highest and the most dignified morals next to Allah S.W.T. While for us, common people, perhaps we may have good morals but only al hasanah, the good morals, not the most dignified morals. No one with good morals mentioned as having the most dignified morals. This title is given by Allah S.W.T only for the Greatest Rasulullah S.A.W, so that the most dignified morals of Prophet S.A.W cover up everything else.
Not being praised, “wa innaka la a’la ilm adzim” indeed you are within the greatest knowledge. Indeed you are within the most dignified patience. But Allah S.W.T praised Prophet Muhammad S.A.W “wa innaka la a’la khuluqin adzim”. Hence come the praise given by Allah S.W.T towards Prophet Muhammad S.A.W, on how the morals of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W until those who were enemies of Prophet S.A.W, the atheists were eventually converted to Islam, they obeyed Prophet Muhammad S.A.W, why? Not only for his patience, but upon seeing the good morals of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
It is said that (I haven’t brought what he had been said just now), Rasul S.A.W said “wakhaaliqunnaasi bikhuluqin hasan” associate with human beings, you mingle with (perform muamalah) other human beings (in a good manner) not with other manner. As being practiced by Prophet Muhammad S.A.W, he taught and ordered us to associate with others in a good manner. Therefore the noble manner outshines other good conducts, and even exceeds the high rank of faithful people, and those who perform numerous prayers, simply with noble manner. As mentioned in many hadits, if someone may perform countless fasting and sunnah prayers, but he doesn’t have a good manner, hence his degree is low in front of Allah S.W.T, compared to someone who doesn’t perform many fasting, nor sunnah prayers, but has good manner, has noble behavior, hence this person has higher degree in the presence of Allah S.W.T. As stated by The Greatest Rasulullah S.A.W “there are some people, be it a man or a woman, their good behavior may outshine the degree of those who are fasting a lot or those who wake up at night for night prayers”.
Take note my Moslem brothers, that the noblest behavior of the Highness Rasulullah S.A.W was not only known by all the comrades of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W and by faithful Moslems, but also by those atheists, hypocrites and enemies of Rasulullah SA.W, they knew the noblest conducts and manners of Rasulullah S.A.W. As written in many stories, even children knew the noblest manner of Prophet S.A.W.
Thus Rasul S.A.W had a tradition, after returning from war, he would gather with all, including small children who would line up in front of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. Sometimes, on the front line were Sayyidina Ja’far bin Abu Tholib, Sayyidina Hasan wa Husein and other comrades until the first second and third lines, and Rasul S.A.W sat in front of them while staring at them all, then Rasulullah S.A.W announced a quiz for them, “O’ children, actually I hide something in my armpit or in my wardrobe. Whoever take what I hide the fastest, he will get a present from me, please go and get what I hide in my wardrobe”. Hence the children who lined up on the front of Rasulullah Saw, started to approach Rasulullah S.A.W, some would come from his back, some would come from the chest of Rasulullah S.A.W, or even his head, struggling to get something hid by Rasulullah S.A.W, while he S.A.W simply laughed happily seeing the behavior of those children. This is one example of how nice manner and behavior of Rasulullah S.A.W so that he S.A.W is loved by all his followers. He (Alhabib Musa) told about the manners of Rasulullah S.A.W which we should follow. One day Prophet Muhammad S.A.W was sitting with his wives, Sayyidah Hafsah, Sayyidah Zainab and Sayyidatuna Aisyah. And while those wives of Prophet S.A.W gathered with Rasul S.A.W, they laughed and threw jokes to each other in the presence of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W, who patiently answered or gave comment. While they were pleasantly chit-chat, suddenly there was a knock on the door, and someone greeted, “Assalamu’alaikum”, it was Sayyidina Umar bin Khattab, hence all the wives who were sitting with Rasulullah S.A.W, quickly wore their chador (hijab), and those who opened their headscarf promptly wore it and all of them rushed to their room, hid themselves because Sayyidina Umar bin Khattab came. After Sayyidina Umar bin Khattab came inside, Rasulullah S.A.W laughed at him. Sayyidina Umar who saw Rasulullah S.A.W laughed cheerfully said, may Allah listen to you O’ Rasulullah. For Allah S.W.T could make you happy, O’ Rasulullah S.A.W, as you are made happy by Allah S.W.T. “what makes you laugh, Rasulullah?” hence Rasulullah S.A.W replied, “just now before you came, all my wives were gathered and chit-chat with me, but once you came, they all rushed inside and wore their chador”. Sayyidina Umar bin Khattab then loudly spoke to them from the guest room, “O’ the wives of Prophet S.A.W, why are all of you more afraid of me rather than of Rasulullah S.A.W? Rasulullah deserved more to be afraid of, instead of me?” Hence replied one of the wives of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W, “yes Umar you are right, we are afraid of you more, we are not afraid of Rasulullah S.A.W because we know that you are the strict person therefore we are afraid. If we laugh, you will get angry at us. But if we laugh and throw jokes in the presence of our husband Rasulullah S.A.W, he S.A.W never get angry at us”. Once Sayyidina Umar bin Khattab heard this, he was numb. And Rasul S.A.W laughed. (Shahih Bukhari).
One of the shahih stories mentioned about the manner of Rasulullah S.A.W. One day Rasulullah S.A.W was visited by the children of a hypocrite, Abdullah bin Ubay, he was famous in Medina and he passed away. When he died, his children came to Rasulullah S.A.W and one of them said, “O’ Rasulullah can you give me shroud or winding sheet to wrap the body of my father who passed away?” hence Rasulullah S.A.W said, “sure” although Rasul S.A.W knew the person was a hypocrite, still Rasul S.A.W gave the shroud for their late father. And Rasulullah S.A.W said, “Why didn’t you inform me before, so I could come and pray for your late father” the son replied, “O’ Rasulullah please pray for him” hence Rasulullah came to his grave. After being wrapped with shroud and buried, Rasulullah S.A.W prayed for him in front of his grave. Hence Sayyidina Umar bin Khattab was sad seeing this, Sayyidina Umar reminded Rasulullah S.A.W, “O’ Rasulullah you know that this person was a hypocrite, hypocrite people will never be blessed, but why did you pray for him?” Rasulullah S.A.W replied, “O’ Umar there is no prohibition order from Allah S.W.T yet for me to pray for this dead body although he was a hypocrite”. Hence Rasul S.A.W prayed for him, before came down the verse “wala tusholli a’la…wala” never all of you pray for any of hypocrite people. Rasulullah S.A.W hence forbids praying for dead bodies of hypocrite people, nor standing in front of their graves. Thus the experts of interpretation of Al Qur’an after this verse was announced, “how lucky the hypocrite, Abdullah bin Ubay, he received amnesty from Allah S.W.T due to the prayer of Rasulullah S.A.W for him.” See this manner of Rasulullah S.A.W, although he S.A.W knew that the dead person was a hypocrite, but he S.A.W came, gave the shroud to wrap the dead body and even prayed for him.
Therefore we should try our best to make our behaviors good, as shown by the Greatest Rasulullah S.A.W. We should always beg and ask Allah S.W.T to give us the best manner, we also must try our best and pray as taught by The Highness Rasulullah S.A.W, how he S.A.W prayed and begged Allah S.W.T to give us guidance in performing the best deeds, among others is the noble manner. Therefore Rasulullah S.A.W taught us, when we look at ourselves in the mirror, recite “Allahumma kamaahassanta khalqiy fahassin khuluqiy” as You have completed and beautify my shape and look, You also mend my soul with the best behavior. We ask Allah S.W.T to mend the outer look (physical appearance) as well as our inner look. We are humankind, not animals nor plants. While trees and plants and animals will return to soil when die, but you are O’ humankind, when you die, you will not return to soil, although our dead body is buried, but your soul will return to Allah S.W.T. Your soul will ascend to face Allah S.W.T, will have to stand before Allah S.W.T. just like our body, our soul needs to be fed, and noble manners as taught by Prophet Muhammad S.A.W will raise our rank to the highest level.
As mentioned earlier, with the noble manner, someone could outshine good deeds of other people such as fasting, and performing night prayers (shalat qiyamullail). While if you pray, it might take around 4 hours, or sunnah fasting might take few months, but noble manners as taught by Rasulullah S.A.W would speed up the rise of your rank in front of Allah S.W.T. Therefore let us try our best, while our look is mended by Allah S.W.T in a good shape, don’t forget to mend our soul, our behaviors and attitudes, as taught by the Greatest Rasulullah S.A.W, on how we could behave in the noble way like the noblest manners of Rasulullah S.A.W.
He also mentioned that may Majelis Rasulullah S.A.W is poured with blessings. This kind of Majelis is loved by Nabi S.A.W, this kind of majelis makes the heart of Prophet S.A.W pleased, as those who attend this majelis are mostly from young people and children, the ones most loved by Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. Because in every war, there were many young people took part. It has been said that once Sayyidina Abdurrahman bin Auf, the comrade of Rasulullah S.A.W was in the front line, he turned right and saw most of the troops were young, when he turned left, he also saw more young people. While he was prepared to face the enemies, suddenly someone nudged lightly Sayyidina Abdurrahman bin Auf from his right, hence he turned his head to the right and saw a young boy, teenager, “what do you want, O’ young man?” the teenager said, “O’ Abdurrahman please show me which one is Abu Jahal?” this young boy wanted to know which one was Abu Jahal. “Why did you want to find Abu Jahal?”, asked Sayyidina Abdurrahman bin Auf. The young boy replied, “I have heard that Abu Jahal has always hurt Rasulullah S.A.W. While in Mecca, before moving to Medina I have heard the news that this Abu Jahal was the person who always hurt Rasulullah S.A.W, the person who always disturbed Rasulullah S.A.W, so please you show me, O’ Abdurrahman, which one is Abu Jahal, I want to kill him”.
Not even the young boy finished talking, another one nudged lightly from the left, “what is it now?” Sayyidina Abdurrahman asked, and a young boy asked the same question with the first one. Sayyidina Abdurrahman bin Auf asked, “why would you look for Abu Jahal?”, the kid replied, “I have heard that this Abu Jahal is the enemy of Allah who always disturbed and made Rasulullah S.A.W upset in Mecca”. Sayyidina Abdurrahman bin Auf could see the spirit of these young men, not long after that, Sayyidina Abdurrahman bin Auf saw Abu Jahal was surrounded by other enemies. The arrow was on his left while Abu Jahal was on his right, hence Sayyidina Abdurrahman bin Auf told the young man on his right, “O’ young man, that is Abu Jahal”. Even before he finished giving instruction and warning, “be careful, because Abu Jahal is a cruel person”, the young man without hesitating quickly jumped in front of Abu Jahal, he threw his javelin towards the chest of Abu Jahal. The young kid on the left asked “which one is Abu Jahal?” Sayyidina Abdurrahman said, “that one”. Straightly the young boy jumped and approached Abu Jahal, he was excited to kill Abu Jahal because his hatred towards this cruel man who often hurt Rasulullah S.A.W. Look at these young people in the era of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W, they voluntarily sacrifice their life for the sake of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. These are young people most loved by Rasulullah S.A.W.
Jazakallahu khair jaza our noble Guru fadhilatul ustadz ad da’i illaAllah Sayyidil Habib Musa bin Ja’far Assegaf mataanAllahu bihi, may Allah lengthen his age, may Allah pour blessing and happiness towards him in the world and beyond, and give usrah in his religious speeches throughout this world. Because he has just returned from England and has visited European countries. It has been spread all over the world, these religious speeches of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W which were weaken before, this is the time to rise and shine again. And tonight, we met with him, may Allah give easiness in his speeches and his guidance. Amin Allahumma Amin.
